Spirit of 76....my very first pin, and the one I always played when I was a kid. It's a keeper!

Well, here's what I started with. These "before" photos were taken by the person I bought the game from in Feb 2004.
The cabinet had been repainted with a brush, however they didn't bother to fix any gouges or dings before they did. All in all, the finish looked awful. At least they tried to stay true to the original artwork.
The coin door was in decent shape with no noticeable dents, but was scratched and pitted.
The legs....rusted to hell, half the chrome was peeling, and at 28 1/2 inches they were the wrong length too.

This upper playfield shot shows the notorious wear mark in front of the center kick-out hole (which is also chewed up), broken/chipped plastics, worn and faded bumper caps and drop targets, heavy ball trail marks and swirls in the paint, and incorrect playfield posts both in height and color. Although not really that noticable in this pic, all the metal bits were dull and tarnished.

More ball trail marks in the paint, chipping around the inserts, and incorrect playfield posts. In general, the finish on the playfield was dull and dirty.

Cabinet side view. Notice the wear below the flipper buttons, even after it was repainted! If you look closely, you'll see the typical gouges and scrapes (under the paint) along the entire length of the cab.

This picture speaks for itself.
Doesn't anyone ever clean the inside?

Shortly after I bought the game, I attempted to clean and touch up the playfield. Here, kickout and insert wear have been touched up with acrylic paint. The rest of the playfield was brought back to life with Novus 2 and carnuba wax.

The playfield was in horrible condition when I first bought the game, but look at the shine now.....thanks again to Novus 2!

Here's the lower playfield and apron area. Sadly, my lower apron is a bit scratched up, and it appears no one will be reproducing these anytime soon.
